  1. Curtis Autery's Remote Control Search Engine Interface.

  3. There are a number of items like this on the web, all of them
  4. copyrighted with huge disclaimers about legal rights. This
  5. will be probably the first public-domain interface for this
  6. type of function. I only ask that you leave the top "note"
  7. comments in tact when copying this file, or editing it. Perhaps
  8. you can add an additional comment stating the original file
  9. has been modified.

  11. This is meant to show some examples of JavaScript technique to
  12. people who already "program" in JavaScript.

  14. To use this, open rc.htm in a web browser that supports true
  15. JavaScript.
  16.  
  17. I recommend using Netscape 3.0 with this. Communicator seems to
  18. eat more resources than a "quick" interface like this needs,
  19. Netscape 2.x won't work with this as I use some JavaScript code
  20. first implemented in 3.0. No version of Internet Explorer (not
  21. even 4.0) will work with this at all - You will get an immediate
  22. JavaScript error and a black web browser.

  24. The interface should be self-explanatory. I used some "always
  25. on top" code that I created, and it is a little funny sometimes.
  26. Occasionally the "Hide" button will seem to have a rapidly
  27. blinking dotted line on it, and sometimes the "always on top"
  28. functionality disappears. When either of these circumstances
  29. occur, click anywhere in the black area of the remote control
  30. window and the problem disappears. (Any code fixes or
  31. suggestions for that will be welcome and appreciated).
